Our members celebrate the passenger ship in its many forms. Whether your interest is the liners of yesteryear, the cruise ships of today, or ferries and excursion boats , the Society has something for all.

Members include employees of major shipping companies, authors and ship buffs, inveterate travellers and armchair sailors.

Members receive the superb quarterly magazine Sea Lines - 48 colour pages of detailed articles by noted maritime authors on ocean liners and cruises ships, plus all the latest passenger ship news.  Your membership includes:

The people who run the Society are:

William Mayes - (Chairman) - inveterate cruiser and author / publisher of shipping books and articles and also edits Sea Lines magazine as well as contributing to magazines and World Ship Society events

David Trevor Jones - (Vice Chair) - hooked on cruising when taken on a ship as a youngster.  Organiser of the monthly and Ship Show talks and our link to the SS Shieldhall

 

Hugh Elliott - (Treasurer) - semi- retired train driver but his family was in the Diplomatic Service and in his early hears he was fascinated by the ships they travelled on to their postings.

 

Hugh Lalor - (Social Media manager) - a former navy man and civil servant who contributes articles and maintains our Facebook presence

Desri Omer - (Secretary) Former worker in the shipping and cruise industry.  Keeper of minutes and agendas but also organises the annual Ship Show. 

​

Clive Harvey - maritime historian and author and occasional TV presenter and cruise ship speaker who edited Sea Lines for 10 years and also a former chairman.

 

Chris Mason - does the production of Sea Lines magazine and advertisements and gets them to the printers, also an occasional cruise ship speaker

Mike Crane - video editor who is our most recent recruit and is editing the recordings of the Talks (where we have had permission to record them) so they can be viewed again by members when we enhance this site to have a Members' Area.
